Google unveiled its latest family of hardware ranging from smartphones, ear buds to laptops at a major product launch event in New York on Tuesday (local time), with its new Pixel 4 phone featuring facial recognition and radar detection technologies.

Google's next-generation Pixel 4 comes with a 5.7-inch display and a 2,800 mAh battery, which is running on the Snapdragon 855 chipset with 6GB of RAM, reports Xinhua.

The company's flagship Android phone is equipped with some experimental technologies such as "Soli" radar chips capable of detecting motion that help users to control the phone without even touching the screen.

Google has been developing the radar technology since 2015 to allow users to wave their hands over the phone to operate the device, including switching songs, browsing photos, and silencing incoming calls or snoozing alarms.

The Pixel 4's new radar detection feature gives it the "fastest secure face unlock" ability on any mobile devices, according to Google.

Google said the phone can even automatically call 911 for users if they are trapped in a car accident or car crash, a unique feature previously unseen on other smartphones.

Meanwhile, Google also launched a larger 6.3-inch Pixel 4 XL at the event in New York, which has the same new 90hz display with a 3,700 mAh battery. The larger model is equally powered with Soli radar technology.

Google said the Pixel 4 can be purchased from all major US carriers such as Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile, as well as other retailers including online shops of Amazon, Best Buy and B&H.

Other hardware devices that hit the annual Made by Google event included new Pixel ear buds, Nest WiFi, Google's new WiFi mesh router-smart speaker hybrid system, and Pixelbook Go, a 13.3" display laptop with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage.
