Facebook to verify all govt pages: Palak

Official Facebook pages of all ministries, departments and directorates and offices of the government is going to be verified soon.

Largest social media Facebook in collaboration with the government will verify the pages in phases.

Facebook has already started formally verifying the official page of different organisations of ICT Division.

"The verification of the official Facebook page of the government will help check the misuse of the page as well as fraudulent acts," said State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak.

The junior minister made the remarks was addressing workshop on Monday.

Leveraging ICT for Growth, Employment and Governance (LICT) project of Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) and Facebook organised the event at BCC auditorium.

Officials concerned, including those of ICT focal points, innovation officers of the ministries, departments and directorates, took part in the function.

Palak urged all to use world's largest Facebook platform to deliver services to the doorstep of people.

The ICT State Minister said the government is trying its best to make 90 per cent of its services by 2021 to ensure people's easy access to it.

Palak said the ICT Division has taken connectivity up to upazila level and the all unions will come under broadband connectivity by 2018.
