Bongo clinches Merit Award at APICTA

Bongo, a project of Stellar Digital Limited, has won the First Merit Award at APICTA (Asia Pacific ICT Awards) Ceremony at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center in Dhaka.

Bongo picked up the award for its project "Bioscope", a joint-venture with Grameenphone, allowing users to access live TV and entertainment at the click of their fingertips.

Bioscope has had more than 4.5 million users to date since its soft launch in September 2016, and more than 1.5 million app downloads since the app went live just three months ago.

APICTA, also known as the "Oscars of IT", is an annual event which includes 16 countries. This year close to 400 participants were involved, and Bangladesh had the honour to host the 17th edition of the event for the first time.

The event was co-hosted by BASIS and the ICT Ministry of Bangladesh, says a press release.

Finance Minister Abul Maal A Muhith was the Chief Guest of the event, while ZunaidAhmed Palak MP, Minister of ICT, attended there as a special guest.

Russel Ahmed, the Convener of the Awards, and Dr Dileepa De Silva, APICTA's Chairman were also present at the ceremony.
