Banglalink to bring 30pc people under 4G coverage by June

The country's third largest mobile phone operator Banglalink eyes to bring 30 per cent people of 64 districts under its 4G coverage by June this year.

The operator, at a press conference on Monday in its headquarters, claimed that it already has enabled 400 base stations with 4G services, and around 3,000 sites by June among the total 9,500 sites, reports BSS.

Banglalink has faced challenges last year for flood with spectrum insufficiency to offer 3G service, but it has overcome the situation, claimed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Erik Aas.

"We had serious quality issue last year, but now have made a remarkable improvement in ensuring better customer experience by upgrading network capacity," said Aas.

He hoped customers will get the latest service by Ramadan when their initial target will be meeting up.

After getting the license on February 19, Banglalink has so far covered seven big cities with their fastest data service and increasing the sites and districts number every day.

Currently, few lakh customers are using 4G services and the number is increasing on an average 20,000 to 25,000 in a day.

Banglalink has acquired additional 10.6 MHz spectrum with Taka 3,000 crore and increase its spectrum accumulation to 53 percent.

"Now, we are focusing on digital services which will also push the customers to empower their digital life," Aas added.

The super-fast mobile internet provided by 4G network will enable the users to enjoy zero-buffer HD video streaming, HD quality video calling, high-fidelity music streaming, online gaming, social networking and all sorts of other internet services.

Banglalink also reiterated that they will invest $ 1.0 billion over the three years in this market to give a huge boost to their customers.
