Fourth part of graphic novel on Bangabandhu comes out

The fourth edition of a graphic novel series on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was launched at the Amar Ekushey Book Fair in Dhaka city.

The book focuses on the Father of the Nation’s journey to and from Delhi to Calcutta. It also features an altercation between young Mujib and his political mentor Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy.

Unveiling the book on Saturday, Radwan Mujib Siddiq, trustee of the Center for Research and Information, a non profit research organisation, said, “I find so much joy by publishing this book that I cannot find anywhere else.”

Portraying Bangabandhu’s character in the book, Boby, grandchild of the Father of the Nation, said, “Bangabandhu never feared to raise voice against any unjust even he was lone.”

Bangabandhu’s two daughters – Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Sheikh Rehana – were two “mentors” of the novel and they were “very cautious” about publishing the novel, according to a media statement.

Radwan, a publisher of this book, also recalled the heroic sacrifices of the language martyrs for whose contribution, he added, “we are getting such bangla books and comics”.

Later he visited the bookstall set up by CRI (stall no 100/119 inside Bangla Academy) and presented a band of kids with complementary copies of the newly released edition of the graphic novel.

The entire graphic novel series, which is being presented in 12 parts, is based on the "The Unfinished Memoirs" of Bangabandhu, written during his incarceration.

Cartoonist Sayed Rashad Imam Tonmoy, who portrayed the life of the Bangladesh’s founding father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in a graphic novel, said it was a difficult task.

State minister for power Nasrul Hmaid Bipu, state minister for information Tarana Halim and state minister for ICT Junaid Ahmed Palak, among others, were present at the event.
