A special judge will be presiding over the trial of former prime minister Khaleda Zia inside the Old Dhaka jailhouse in the Zia Charitable Trust graft case.

Special measures have been put in place to tighten security around the jailhouse on Nazimuddin Road.

Dhaka-5 Special Judge Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman was expected to start the trial proceedings in the jailhouse on Wednesday, according to a bdnews24 report.

Khaleda has been kept as the lone inmate in a room on the first floor of the prison.

The BNP chief has been serving time in prison after being sentenced to five years in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case on Feb 8.
