The Seventh Zakat Fair, 2019 will be held in the city on Saturday with the theme of 'Making a difference with Zakat'.
Planning Minister M A Mannan will inaugurate the fair as the chief guest at Krishibid Institution Bangladesh in Khamarbari of the capital, according to a press release.
The daylong fair is being organised by Centre for Zakat Management (CZM).
The objectives of the Zakat Fair are: Motivate Muslims to give their zakat in a planned way, clarify Rules (Fiqh) of Zakat and its calculation and popularize Zakat as a poverty reduction tool.
A seminar titled "Role of Zakat and Tax in Reducing Income Inequalities", a roundtable conference on "Importance of Ethics in Economy: The Zakat Issue" and a special Q&A session for women will be organised at the fair.
A consultation desk will be set up at the fair for any query from the visitors relating to rules and regulations of Zakat and helping individuals or business organizations for calculating Zakat properly.
The event is sponsored by Rahimafrooz, Exim Bank, Mirpur Ceramics, Kohinoor Chemical, Rahim Steel, Le Meridian, Best Holdings Limited and several other companies of the country.
The Member Secretary of the Zakat Fair Organising Committee A M M NasirUddin disclosed these at a press briefing at Dhaka Reporters Unity on Thursday.
Chairman, Center for Zakat Management and Group director, Rahimafrooz Group Niaz Rahim, Head of Operation of CZM Md Jasim Uddin were also present.
The Zakat Fair will remain open for all day from 09:00am to 6:00pm, reports UNB.
