Youth dies in BSF firing along Lalmonirhat border

A Bangladeshi national was reportedly shot to death by members of Indian Border Security Force (BSF) along Burimari border in Patgram upazila early Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Farid Uddin, 22, son of Shamsul Haque, of Patgram upazila.

Sources at Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) said a patrol team of BSF opened fire at the cattle traders while they went to border pillar No. 843 for bringing cattle around 4:00am, leaving one dead on the spot and another cortically injured.

The injured Akkas Ali, 26, of Ufarmara village adjacent to Burimari border, was firstly taken to Patgram Upazila Health Complex and later shifted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.

Major Mehedi Hasan, director of BGB battalion-61, said they sent a letter to BSF strongly protesting the incident.
