A woman has filed a case against a man for raping her at a hotel in Banani eight and a half months after the alleged rape at Raintree Hotel in the same upscale neighborhood.

The accused was, Kushan Omar Sufi, 38, is a brother of singer Anusheh Anadil.

The alleged victim, a 32-year-old woman, started the case on Dec 13, Banani Police Station Inspector Md Abdul Matin told on Monday

She said in the case that the Kushan raped her in Sweet Dream hotel at Kamal Ataturk Avenue on Nov 20.
She said she was into a relationship Kushan, who she alleged had tricked her into the hotel with the promise to marry her, but ravaged her.

Kushan reiterated the promise to marry her to avoid the case after the alleged sexual assault, she said.
The woman said she initiated the case as Kushan’s family refused to let him marry her and were trying to send him abroad.

She also alleged the family threatened her with death.

No comment from Kushan or his family was available immediately. His sister Anusheh’s phone was found switched off.

In the Raintree hotel rape case, the police arrested Shafat Ahmed, son of an owner of Apan Jewellers, and four others.
The alleged victims, two university students, said they were violated at the hotel after responding to the invite of a birthday party thrown by Shafat on Mar 28.

Sweet Dream hotel Manager Sagar Chandra Dey told that Kushan and the woman identified themselves as husband and wife in the registrar while checking in.

“They left normally after spending the night. We noticed nothing unusual,” he said.

He said police collected CCTV footage and other papers from the hotel, according to bdnews24 report.
Police Inspector Matin said they raided several places to arrest Kushan but failed to find him.
He added they were waiting for the report of the medical test on the woman.

The woman from Mirpur said in the case that her romance with Kushan developed one and a half years ago. She said she had also visited Kushan’s house in Banani’s Old DOHS many times.

Kushan had introduced her as fiancée to his family at one stage of their relationship, she said.
He went abroad in June this year and promised to marry her after returning in September, the alleged victim said.
When she went to Kushan’s house on Nov 19, his sister Anusheh barred her from entering the house, the woman claimed.

She said the accused person then asked her to discuss the issue outside the house.
After dinner at a restaurant, the man took her to the hotel after Nov 19 midnight, she said, adding that she agreed to go with him as she ‘loved him’.

But Kushan beat her up at the hotel room and raped her in the night, she said.

She said a police patrol picked them up when she informed the law enforcers about the incident the following morning.
At the police station, police called Kushan’s uncle and she described the entire issue to him, the woman said.
Kushan promised to marry her in the presence of several members of his family at the police station and they signed a written statement of compromise, she said.

But when she visited Kushan’s house the next day, his family beat her up and drove her out.

She said she had filed a general diary at Cantonment Police Station after the alleged assault.
