Quota protest leaders have called for withdrawing all cases registered against them within two days.

They made the call at a press conference in front of the central library at Dhaka University at 11:30am on Monday.

Police and Dhaka University have so far filed four cases related to various incidents during the protests.

One of the cases is relating to an attack on the residence of Dhaka University vice chancellor Md Akhteruzzaman.

The protesters self-identify them as being under the banner of Bangladesh Sadharan Chhatra Odhikar Sangrakkhan Parishad.

The Parishad threatened to wage a movement if the cases are not withdrawn by the time they have given.

They also claimed that a vested quarter is trying to tag them as Jamaat-Shibir only to mislead the movement.

The Ittefaq has run a report today introducing Rashed Khan, joint convener of the Parishad, as “Jamaat-Shibir” but Khan called it a complete lie.

Convener Hasan Al Mamun said he is a son of a freedom fighter, and a Chhatra League leader. He called for inquiring about the family if anybody has any doubt about what he said.

The quota protest leaders also called on The Ittefaq management to withdraw the false report against them, or else threatened to boycott the newspaper at all educational institutions.

They expressed their readiness to help to bring to book those who launched the attack on the residence of the vice chancellor.

A day after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina announced the scrapping of the quota systems the protesters halted their protests on Thursday last for a time until a gazette is issued on this.
