Winrock honours 50 trafficking survivors

Fifty women, who survived human trafficking and subsequently rebuilt their livelihoods, were recently honoured with Pioneers for Self-Reliant Women awards.

Winrock International's Ashshash Project, supported by the Embassy of Switzerland in Bangladesh, organised the award-giving ceremonies in five of its key working-districts - Khulna, Satkhira, Jashore, Chatto-gram, and Cox's Bazar.

The organisation handed over the awards to the women in observance of the International Women's Day 2022, according to a press release.

Their contributions as wage-earners through employment within respective localities, and marked success via entrepreneurship were the determining factors that were recognised as fuels for their success stories.

The events were organised collectively with the project's partner organizations, and officials from the District Women Affairs Office and the upazila nirbahi officers (UNOs) were present as the guests.
