Wild elephant attacks Cox's Bazar Rohingya camp, one dead

A Rohingya man was killed in an elephant attack in Majurchhara area of Kutupalong Rohingya camp in Ukhia upazila early Friday.

The deceased has been identified as Yakub Ali, 45, son of one Mahmud Ali.

A wild elephant entered the camp around 3:00am and killed Yakub by using his turtle, said officer-in-charge of Ukhia Police Station M Abul Khayer quoting family members.

According to a UNB report, 12 Rohingyas, including women and children, were killed in several elephant attacks recently in the Rohingya camp.
