A wheat-laden lighter vessel capsized in the Bay of Bengal Tuesday morning.

MV Pathgati-2, carrying 1,100 kilograms of wheat was bound towards Narayanganj. It sinked in the Bay after it was hit by another vessel MV Abdullah Asif-10 in the sea, around seven nautical miles from the port.

All 14 crew members of the vessel were rescued unhurt, said Omar Faruk, secretary of Chittagong Port Authority, UNB reported.

After getting signal seeking help, they were rescued by nearby boats, he said adding that, "A ship of Bangladesh Navy has already reached there."

There were no problems in operation of other vessels in the sea as the location is outside the channel, he further added.
