Violations of traffic rules: 1,332 cases filed, Tk 3.87m realised as fine in July

Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) filed a total of 1,332 cases and realised over Tk 3.87 million as fine in July 2022 over violations of traffic rules.

In its 233 drives, BRTA also jailed four people and dumped 47 vehicles during the period, according to monthly data of the organisation.

However, the transport regulator did not provide the data from March 2022 to June 2022.

Earlier, the BRTA filed a total of 1,126 cases and realised over Tk 2.71 million as fine in February 2022.

The BRTA filed a total of 1,761 cases and realised over Tk 3.24 million as fine in October 2021 over such a case while it lodged a total of 2,304 cases and realised over Tk 3.39 million in September 2021.

On the other hand, the transport regulator filed a total of 2,100 cases and realised over Tk 2.08 million in August 2021.

The BRTA conducts mobile court drives regularly across the country with a view to bringing discipline and order on the roads.

The transport regulator lodged the cases as per the new Road Transport Act 2018 and other relevant laws.
