At least 28 villages in the coastal districts of Patuakhali and Bagerhat have submerged after breaching flood defences due to the effect of severe storm Fani.
Parts of the country have been experiencing rain with gusty winds since Friday morning after the storm slammed into eastern India, reports bdnews24.com.
As part of precautionary measures, 404,250 people has already been taken to the cyclone shelters and as many as 2.5 million people are to be taken to safety in 19 coastal districts by Friday evening.
Teams were going door to door to warn people and taking part in the evacuations efforts.
