Vietnam gifts medical equipment to Bangladesh in fight for Covid-19

Vietnam has provided Bangladesh with medical equipment in the form of gifts to help it fight the lingering Covid-19 outbreak.

The gifts – 66 boxes of personal protection equipment (full set: 3,000 pcs) and 80 boxes of surgical facemasks (200,000 pcs) – arrived in Dhaka on a special flight of US-Bangla Airlines on August 18, says a press release.

The foreign ministry received the medical gifts at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital.

According the press release, Vietnam was supposed to gift RT—Test Kit too to Bangladesh but it could not do so due to the fresh outbreak of the coronavirus in the Southeast Asian country.

Earlier, a symbolic handover ceremony was held in Hanoi on August 14.

Vietnam's deputy foreign minister Nguyen Chi Dung and Bangladesh Ambassador to Vietnam Samina Naz were present during the programme.
