Users get poor 4G data speed in Khulna as well

The mobile phone operators have failed to ensure the fourth generation (4G) data speed in different districts of Khulna Division.

They were providing poorer download speed as compared to the country's benchmark, according to a latest Quality of Service (QoS) report released on Wednesday.

Bangladesh Telecommu-nication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) prepared the report after conducting a comprehensive QoS measurement through drive-tests at different locations of the division from November 02 to November 27 in 2021.

In the drive-test the benchmark for the 4G download speed was 7Mbps, but none of the mobile phone operators could comply with the benchmark during the period.

Grameenphone's 4G download speed was 5.06Mbps while the speed provided by Robi, Banglalink and Teletalk was 3.32Mbps, 4.59Mbps and 1.71Mbps respectively.

Under the drive, the BTRC covered a stretch of 2,259 kilometres in 44 upazilas of 10 districts.

"No telecom operator passed the benchmark test in Barishal Division too," according to the report on Barishal Division released last week.

In Rangpur Division, three out of four operators were found non-compliant in ensuring a minimum 4G speed.

Market leader Grammenphone along with Banglalink and state-owned Teletalk failed to meet the 4G speed benchmark in the division.

In Sylhet and Rajshahi divisions, all the operators, except Banglalink, were found to be providing lower 4G speed compared to the local benchmark.
