US national crosses barriers of religion, country to marry Bangladeshi girl

A 27-year-old US national has once again proved that love transcends all boundaries by crossing the barriers of religion and country to marry the love of his life from Gazipur in Bangladesh.

Ryan Coffman, an operator of a plastic factory in Kansas City in the Missouri State of US, flew all the way to Bangladesh on May 31 to marry the love of his life Saida Islam, 26, from Bhogra Moddhopara area in Gazipur municipality.

The US national converted to Islam from Christianity and married Saida on June 1 with permission from both the families following Islamic rules and Bangladeshi cultural norms.

Since the marriage, Ryan has been living with his newly-wed wife’s family in Gazipur and enjoying all the hospitality a Bangladeshi new son-in-law receives despite being of a different nationality, reports UNB.

“From the moment I reached here the cordiality and hospitality of Bangladeshi people has impressed me and I feel proud to find my life partner here,” said Ryan.

Saida said it has been a year since they fell in love and Ryan decided to come to Bangladesh after they decided to spend the rest of their lives together.

“In 2021, Ryan and I found each other through a social media platform and later shared our phone numbers, address, and Facebook profiles. Our relationship grew more intimate with regular communication through phone calls and video calls and soon we fell in love,” said Saida.

Saida, who completed her graduation two years ago has been living with her maternal grandfather’s family in Gazipur since her father’s demise in 2019.

Ryan has his parents and an elder brother back in the USA and all of them leave separately and have given consent for the marriage, she said.

Saida’s grandfather Mosharraf Hossain and other family members said they are extremely pleased with the new groom’s manners and the whole locality is in a festive mood surrounding the cross nation marriage.

Ryan will soon return to the USA and start preparing documents and Visa processing for Saida to take her with him which may take a few months, said Saida’s family.
