US embassy Issues travel alert to its citizens for BD

The US embassy in Dhaka has issued a fresh travel alert for its citizens amid the outbreak of coronavirus Covid-19.

“The US Embassy has learned GD Assist Ltd. is tentatively arranging a flight from Dhaka to New York (JFK) on July 4, 2020. Those interested in travelling should email them at [email protected]. The US Embassy is not involved in chartering this flight and cannot assist with securing seats”, it said in a statement.

The statement to this end was released on its website on Thursday.

The embassy remains open for business, it stated.

Bangladesh has authorised the resumption of limited international commercial flights, the embassy said.

Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Emirates, and Qatar Airways have resumed flights, and Turkish Airlines is scheduled to resume flights in July.

US citizens wishing to travel should contact the airlines directly to purchase a seat, it further said.

The embassy also urged the American citizens to take further actions to consult the CDC website for the most up-to-date information.

It also requested them to visit the Covid-19 crisis page on travel.state.gov for the latest information.
