State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shariar Alam on Thursday said the United States and Canada expressed their readiness to start humanitarian operations in Bhasanchar.
He said this while addressing journalists at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today.
Terming this as ‘very good news’, the state minister said that recently, the United Nations agreed to start operations on the island but the US and Canada did not join then.
“Due to various propaganda regarding Bhasanchar, the international agencies were reluctant to extend their support to Rohingya people on the island. But finally, they have agreed to start their operations,” he added.
