Two win ‘Syed Waliullah Literary Award’

Two expatriate writers – Shahmim Azad and Nazmun Nesa Piari – won this year’s Syed Waliullah Literary Award 2017'' for their literary works in Bangla.

Bangla Academy introduced the award in 2014 to recognise the work of expatriate Bangladeshi authors, writing in Bangla, English or any other language.

Masud Khan is a poet and writer from Bangladesh. He did his Bachelor degree from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology and Masters from Royal Roads University, Canada.

Over past two decades, his writings have been featured in newspapers and magazines in Bangladesh, India, USA, UK, Belgium, Romania, Malaysia and Canada.

UNB said a certificate, a crest of honour and Tk 50,000 will be handed over to each them at the concluding ceremony of the Amar Ekushey Grantha Mela.

Earlier this award was known as "Bangla Academy Probashi Lekhak Award".
