At least two suspected militants died during a RAB raid on their hideouts in Mohammadpur’s Basila on the outskirts of Dhaka.

The elite force surrounded the house in the area at around 3:00am on Monday, according to RAB-2 Company Commander Md Mohiuddin Farooqi.

“At least two persons were killed. Our bomb disposal team searched the house. We will provide further details after our task is finished,” RAB Media Wing Director Mufti Mahmud Khan told reporters.

RAB officials have been interrogating the owner of the house, Wahab, caretaker Sohag and his wife Mousumi, and Yusuf, an imam of a nearby mosque.

RAB members surrounded the tin-roofed house on the road No. 8 in the Metro Housing area at around 3:00 am on Monday, according to RAB-2 Company Commander Md Mohiuddin Farooqi.

Gunfights took place between RAB and the suspected militants, and explosions were heard from inside the house, he said.

At around 9:00 am, a bomb disposal team helped by other RAB members stormed the house, bdnews24.com reported.

At that time, gunfights were heard from inside.

The RAB used drones to collect information from inside the house, said Farooqi.

Two youths rented one of the four rooms in the house a month ago and three families lived in the three other rooms earlier, according to the RAB.

A mosque was built beside the house a few days back, with Yusuf as its imam.
