Two constables of Shahzadpur Police Station in Sirajganj were closed to the district police lines over escaping of two accused from police custody.
The punitive action was taken against Abdul Hye Sarkar and constable Bidyut Kumar as per the directives of Superintendent of Sirajganj Police Miraj Uddin Ahmed for negligence in duty.
Police said the two accused -- Channu Sheikh, 25 of Dariapur Maholla, and Ataur Rahman, 34 of Kandarpara village in Shahzadpur upazila -- fled away with handcuffs from police custody while being taken to jail from Shahzadpur Cognigence Court by a CNG run auto-rickshaw from BISIC Terminal area on Saturday evening.
Later, Ataur Rahman surrendered to police in the night while Channu remained absconding.
