Two more die in anti-drug crackdown

Two more suspected drug pedlars were killed in reported gunfights between their rivals in Madaripur and Jashore districts in the early hours of Thursday.

In Jashore, an unidentified young man, aged around 32 years, was killed in a ‘gun battle’ between two groups of drug pedlars at Bhatar Amtala in Bagharpara upazila.

Police also recovered one shutter gun, one bullet and three kilogrammes of hemp from the spot, said Nasirul Haq, sub-inspector of Bagharpara Police Station.

In Madaripur, Bacchu Khalifa, 45, a suspected drug pusher, was killed in another ‘gunfight’ between two groups of drug traders at Shambhuk in Shibchar upazila, said Sarwar Hossain, superintendent of district police, UNB reported.

Bacchu was wanted in 14 cases filed under Narcotics Control Act, he added.
