Two minor brothers drowned in the Karatoya River at Mareya Kawakhal Guchchhagram under Boda upazila in Panchagarh on Sunday.
The deceased were identified as Ripon, 6, and Rifat, 4, sons of Abdul Hakim of Kalonipara village in the upazila.
Chairman of Mareya Union Parishad Abu Ansar Md Rezaul Karim Shamim said Ripon and Rifat went to visit their maternal grandfather's house. As no one was in the house, the two minor brothers went to the nearby river and drowned.
Later, local people spotted their floating bodies in the river and recovered those, said officer-in-charge of Boda Police Station AKM Nurul Islam, reports UNB.
