Two minor cousins drowned in a pond in Sonaimuri village of Hajiganj upazila under Chandpur region on Monday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Sinthia Akhter, 6, daughter of Md Delwar Hossain and shishu-class student of Belcho Govt Primary School, and Maria Akhter, 5, daughter of Md Delwar Hossain, a play-class student of Belcho Al-Kawsar Academy.
Family members said that Sinthia and Maria went missing after they had returned home from school around 1:30 pm, reports UNB.
After an hour of frantic search, family members spotted their floating body in the pond nearby their houses.
