A 13-year-old boy and a pregnant woman have died of dengue while undergoing treatment at different hospitals in Dhaka.
They were Hasan, 13, from Bhola district and Sharmin Akhter, 24, wife of a meteorologist named Nazmul Hossain, from Joypurhat district.
At Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), Hasan, breathed his last around 9:45am, local media reported citing officials.
At Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital, a six-month pregnant woman, Sharmin, 24, died around 4:00am, the report added.
With the latest, the number of people who died of dengue this year stood at 59. However, the directorate general of health services put the number at 18 only.
A record 24,804 people have so far contracted the mosquito-borne disease this year, which, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), was 10,148 last year.
