Two ‘drug pedlars’ die in Cox’s Bazar ‘gunfight’

0.45 million pieces Yaba tablets have been recovered

Two suspected drug pedlars were killed in a reported gunfight with members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Panerchhora area of Cox’s Bazar’s Ramu upazila on Tuesday morning.

The deceased were identified as Mirza Mohammad Nizam Uddin, 30, and Ratan Rudra, 25, hailing from Lohagara upazila of Chattogram district.

Being tipped-off, a team of police went to the spot around 7:30am and recovered the duo with bullet injuries, said Mizanur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of Ramu Police Station.

Later, they were rushed to Sadar Hospital where the duty doctors declared them dead, according to a UNB report.

The law enforcers also recovered 0.45 million (4.50 lakh) pieces Yaba tablets and four pistols, the OC said.
