Two workers have died as an iron container fell on them at the under-construction Rampal power plant near the Sundarbans in Bagerhat.
They were identified as Nayeb Ali, 45, and Firoz, 49, hailing from Kushtia’s Bheramara upazila.
One of their fellow workers – Sohanur, 24 – also suffered critical injuries. He also came from the same upazila.
After operating on him, local media reports say, he has been kept in the intensive care unit (ICU) of Khulna Gazi Medical College and Hospital.
Confirming this, Rampal Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge Lutfor Rahman said the contractors will compensate the bereaved families for the accident.
Besides, he said, better care will be taken so that such accident can be averted in future.
