Two die of ‘heatstroke’ while collecting Zakat clothes

Two people died of ‘heatstroke’ while collecting Zakat clothes at the residence of Sirajganj Zila Parishad Chairman Abdul Latif Biswas in Belkuchi upazila on Friday.

They could not be identified immediately.

Dr Shakil Hamza, medical officer of Belkuchi Upazila Health Complex, said a number of people thronged the residence of Latif, also a former livestock and fisheries minister, in the morning for taking zakat clothes.

Two people became sick due to scorching heat has been sweeping the district for the last several days, he said, UNB reported.

Confirming this, Belkuchi Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge Abdur Razzak said the two were taken to a hospital where doctors declared them dead at around 11:30 am.
