49-second long quake rattles Dhaka, other parts of country

A mild tremor jolted different parts of the country including the capital Dhaka on Wednesday morning.

The tremor, measuring 4.7 magnitude, was felt around 10:50am in the country, said Maminul Islam, meteorologist of Dhaka Met Office.

The epicentre of the 49-second long earthquake was in Tripura, India, some 75 kilometres east from the capital Dhaka, Maminul added.

However, no immediate report of damage or casualty was found till filing of this report at 11:30am, according to a news agency report.
