Traffic dept sues 62 drivers for talking over phone

Traffic department of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has filed 62 cases including 23 video cases against drivers of different modes of vehicles on charges of talking over mobile phone while driving on Monday.

The DMP has also lodged 2589 cases and realised Tk 21.90 lakh as fine on charges of traffic rule violations during the period, said an official release.

A total of 222 cases were lodged for driving on the wrong route, 68 other cases for using hydraulic horn, 8 for using hotter and beckon light and 12 others for using black glasses, the report added.

It also dumped 43 vehicles and wrecked 553 others, reports BSS.

While 777 cases were lodged against motorcycles and 33 other were seized for the traffic rule violations.
