The Awami League has nominated Ekramul Hoque Titu as its mayor candidate in the first ever elections to Mymensingh City Corporation.
Titu, who was elected mayor in the last polls to the local government body when it was a municipality, is currently serving as administrator or the city corporation.
The ruling party decided to put him in the race in a meeting of its local government nomination board chaired by Sheikh Hasina at the Ganabhaban in Dhaka on Friday, Awami League Deputy Office Secretary Biplab Barua said, reports bdnews24.com.
Titu is a vice-president of the party’s Mymensingh metropolitan unit.
