The Transparency International, Bangladesh (TIB) has expressed satisfaction over the release of Jaha Alam, and demanded due compensation for wrongly putting him in jail.
Innocent Jaha Alam had been languishing in jail for the last three years instead of the real accused in 33 corruption cases filed by the anti-corruption commission(ACC). He was released from jail in the wee hours of Monday following a High Court order.
The Berlin-based watchdog also sought exemplarily punishment in line with the directions of High Court for those who were involved in wrongful imprisonment of Jaha Alam.
TIB in a statement on Monday urged the authorities concerned to immediately provide due compensation to Alam as three important years were cut down from the innocent’s life.
