Three to die for killing N’ganj RMG worker after rape

A tribunal in Narayanganj on Monday sentenced three people to death for killing a garment worker after rape in 2008.

The condemned convicts are Nasir Uddin Bitol, 40, son of Nur Uddin, Safun, 34, son of Aku Miah, and Khokon Miah, 32, son of Abdus Salam.

According to the prosecution, the convicts picked up a garment worker from Kushiara Bhadrashon area in Bandar upazila on her way back home and took her to an unknown place on March 12, 2008. Later, they violated the girl in turns and killed her.

On June 11, 2008, Khokon made a confessional statement before a court.

After examining the records and witnesses, Narayanganj Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Jewel Rana handed down the verdict acquitting four others as the allegation brought against them could not be proved, reports UNB.
