A Chattogram court on Wednesday sentenced three people to death for killing a girl after gang rape in Pahartoli area of the port city in 2011.
The convicts are Sujan Kumar Das, 22, Sameer Dey, 24, Jadu Ghosh, 25.
Roksana Parvin, acting Judge of Chattogram Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal, delivered the verdict. Among the trio only Sujan was present in the dock while the rest were on the run.
According to the case statement, the convicts called the victim-Panna Rani Das -- over cell phone on June 7 in 2011 near Hari temple in South Kattoli area and killed her after rape.
Later, they 'cremated' the body by pouring kerosene on her.
On the next day police recovered the body from the local cremation ground, reports UNB.
