Three of a family die in Buriganga boat capsize

Three members of a family died and a minor went missing after a boat capsized in the Buriganga River on Friday night.

The dead were identified as Motiur Rahman Moti, 55, his wife Rozina Begum, 42, and Momtaz Begum, 50.

Abdur Razzak, officer-in-charge of Sadarghat River Police Station, said the boat, carrying four members of a family, sank in the river after being hit by a 'MV-Manik' launch at around 10:30pm and they went missing, as per a UNB report.

The bodies of Rozina and Momtaz were retrieved from the river around midnight while that of Moti at around 9:00am on Saturday, the OC said.

Moti's son Abid, 5, remained missing till filing the report at 11:11am.
