Three more U-Turns inaugurated on Satrasta-Uttara road to ease traffic congestion

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) on Sunday opened three more U-Turns constructed as part of the 11 U-Turns Construction Project to ease traffic congestion in the city.

The U-Turns are being constructed on the Satrasta (Tejgaon)-Uttara House Building street at a cost of Tk 318.1 million, reports UNB.

The three U-Turns opened Sunday are at Tejgaon BG Press point, Nabisco/Kohinur Intersection and Banani Chairman Bari point, said a DNCC handout.

DNCC Mayor Atiqul Islam said traffic congestion will be eased and travel time will be saved further thanks to the three U-turns.

When all the U-turns will be in operation, the sufferings of the city's commuters will be reduced to some extent, said the mayor.

With the newly-opened ones, six have so far been made operational on the city's streets.

The three U-Turns opened earlier are at Kaula Flying Academy point, Uttara RAB-1 office point and Uttara Jashim Uddin Intersection.

The construction of four other U-Turns is in progress at Mohakhali Inter-district Bus Terminal point, under the Mohakhali Flyover, Banani-Kakoli railway station point and under Banani Flyover.

The plan for construction of the remaining U-Turn adjacent to Army Golf Club was dropped during the revision of the project.

The cost estimated at the original project was Tk 248.3 million, which was increased by Tk 318.1 million during revision.
