Three including Brac official killed in Naogaon, Gazipur, Jhenaidah accidents

Three people, including a Brac official, were killed in separate road accidents in Naogaon, Gazipur and Jhenaidah districts on Thursday and Friday.

In Gazipur, a woman was killed when a covered van ran over her on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway at Chandona intersection on Friday.

Police said the accident took place when the covered van hit the unidentified women while crossing road in the morning, leaving her dead on the spot.

Later, local people vandalised the covered van after helper and driver of vehicle were beaten up injured. They were taken to Shaheed Tajuddin Medical College and Hospital.

In Naogaon, a Brac official was killed in a road accident on Patnitala-Mahadebpur regional highway in Patnitala upazila headquarters on Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Shafiqul Islam, 30, an accountant of Patnitala branch of Brac and son of Samser Ali of Kashipur village in Kurigram upazila.

Parimal Kumar, officer-in-charge of Patnitala Police Station, said the accident took place around 11 am when two motorbikes collided with each other, leaving Shafiqul dead on the spot.

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to local hospital morgue, UNB reported.

In Jhenaidah, an unidentified man was killed when an unknown vehicle knocked him down near Sadhuhati Girl's School area on Jhenaidah-chuadanga road in sadar upazila on Thursday midnight.
