Three suspected drug peddlers suffered bullet wounds in a reported gunfight with police in Gaibandha town on Saturday.
The injured were identified as Sabuj Miah, Maruf Hasan Jim and Moshiur Rahman, reports UNB.
The drug peddlers were held during an anti-drug drive recently.
Acting on their information, a team of police along with the drug traders conducted a drive in the area, said Khan Mohammad Shahriar, officer-in-charge of Gaibandha Police Station.
When the team reached the spot, a 'gang of drug traders' reportedly attacked the police with sharp weapons, prompting them to fire back that led to the gunfight.
At one stage, the three 'drug traders' were caught in the line of fire and injured with bullets.
Five policemen also suffered injuries in the gunfight, the OC said.
