Three people have died and two others were hospitalised due to alcohol poisoning in Kaliganj upazila of Jhenidah.
The deceased have been identified as Kaliganj residents Biswas Bappi, Munna Das and Shuvankar Mitra Tito.
Kaliganj Police Station OC Md Yunus Ali said the three died on Thursday and Friday night, reports bdnews24.com.
“On Thursday night a group bought and drank alcohol from Kotchandpur. They returned home to Kaliganj and fell sick. They were admitted to the local upazila health complex, where Bappi died,” the OC said.
“Munna and Tito were transferred to Jessore Sadar Hospital after their condition deteriorated. They died there on Friday night while undergoing treatment,” the police official added.
Two others are still undergoing care at the Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex.
