Three BSF members held in Rajshahi

Three members of India’s Border Security Force (BSF) have been detained as they trespassed into Bangladesh on Monday morning.

They are Assistant Sub Inspector Harnam Shing, constables Rakesh Kumar and Santosh Kumar of Harudanga camp of Border Security Post (BSF) in the Indian state of Murshidabad.

Shamim Uddin, commanding officer of Border Guard Bagngladesh (BGB) -1 Battalion, said they made the arrests from Char Majhar Diyar in Rajshahi’s Godagari upazila upon their ‘mistaken’ entry around 7:30am.

The ‘mistake’ results from thick fog and no demarcation line on the border while chasing cattle smugglers, he said.

The arrested BSF members, according to the BGB commanding officer, will be handed over to their home country after a flag meeting.
