Three Bangladeshi mountaineers have conquered Lhakpa Ri (Xang Dong Feng), a 23,113-foot Himalayan peak in Tibet.

The three mountaineers—MA Mohit, Bahlul Maznu and Shayla Parvin Bithi—reached the summit on May 17 at 3:00pm (Nepal local time) after witnessing a terrific and tough situation.

MA Mohit, the first Bangladeshi who conquered the Mount Everest twice, led the team for the first Bangladeshi expedition to Lhakpa Ri peak, opposite the North Face of Everest.

On the occasion, Bangla Mountaineering and Trekking Club organised a press conference at Jatiya Press Club in the capital, where a flag-in ceremony was held.

The trekkers shared their herculean and hazardous experience during the Lhakpa Ri expedition.

MA Mohit also presented the slides show of the expedition. He said the team had to go through tough time and face every risky moment during the expedition.

The team has been able to experience and learn how to cope up with the nature, he added.

Executive Director CAMPE Rasheda K Choudhury spoke at the occasion. Enam Ul Haque, a Bangladeshi expeditor to Antarctica and the North Pole, also spoke at the function.

The 7,000m Lhakpa Ri expedition was planned by Bangla Mountaineering & Trekking Club and sponsored jointly by Paragon Agro Limited, Aria Foods Bangladesh Limited, Emkay Enterprises Limited and Azim Group.

Previously Bahlul Maznu conquered five 6,000 meter (20,000 ft) peaks and Shayla Parvin conquered one 6,000m mountain.
