Terminal to be built at Rabnabad channel of Payra Port

A terminal along with a 650-meter jetty worth around Tk 40 billion (Tk 4,000 crore) will be constructed at Rabnabad channel for transporting goods from Payra Port to other parts of the country.

Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan made the disclosure on Wednesday.

He revealed this at the financial, development and administrative meeting of Payra Port held at the ministry office, according to a press release.

Shajahan said a detailed project proforma (DPP) has been sent to the Planning Ministry in this regard, reports BSS.

The minister asked the authorities concerned to complete the construction of Payra-Rajpara link road and purchasing boats, boya laying vessels, tug boats, heavy duty speedboats and pilot boats for the Payra Port as soon as possible.

The meeting also put emphasis on starting the activities of capital dredging and the construction of transshipment container terminal, deep water container terminal, multipurpose terminal and dry bulk/coal terminal.

Secretary of the Shipping Ministry Md Abdus Samad and Payra Port Authority Chairman Commodore M Jahangir Alam, among others, were present in the meeting.
