Tajuddin Ahmad remembered on his birthday

Tajuddin Ahmed, the first prime minister of Bangladesh, was remembered on his 97th birth anniversary on Saturday, according to BSS and UNB.

The national leader was the prime minister the provisional government of Bangladesh formed on April 10 in 1971 in Mujibnagar. Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was the President of Mujibnagar government that led the nation to achieve victory against Pakistani occupation forces.

Tajuddin Ahmed played an important role in liberating Bangladesh in 1971, when Bangabandhu was confined by Pakistani army during the liberation war.

Tajuddin Ahmad, one of the close associates of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was born on July 23 in 1925 at Dardaria village under Kapasia upazila in Gazipur.

He was killed in Dhaka Central Jail along with other three influential national leaders-- Syed Nazrul Islam, AHM Qamaruzzaman and M Mansur Ali on November 3 in 1975.

To mark the 97th birth anniversary of Tajuddin Ahmed, Kapasia Upazila unit of Awami League organised a discussion at Puraton Dhan Bazar in the upazila on Saturday afternoon.

Local Member of Parliament (MP), also the daughter of Tajuddin Ahmed, Simeen Hossain Rimi joined the discussion as chief guest.

Awami League and its associate bodies paid respect to the country's bright son by placing floral wreaths at the portrait of the country’s first prime minister at the Muktijoddha Chattar in Kapasia.

Besides, Bangladesh Awami League shared biography of Tajuddin Ahmad, including his life events and his political struggles and contributions to the nation, on social media to mark the birth anniversary.
