SYLHET, Dec 24: Farmers in different areas of Sylhet division are busy for preparing Boro seedbeds.
An official at the Sylhet divisional office of DAE said on Monday so far 25,975 hectares of land have been used for Boro seedbed although the target was set at 21,945 hectares earlier.
It includes 14,402 hectares of land in the haor region and rest 11,573 hectares in non-haor areas in the division.
The official said there was a possibility to enhance the seedbed area in the non-haor areas as at least another week is left for preparing seedbed here.
Meanwhile, the DAE set Boro farming target on 468, 557 hectares of land in the region. It includes 79,709 hectares in Sylhet, 53,116 hectares in Moulvibazar, 118,197 hectares in Habiganj and 217,535 hectares in Sunamganj.
The crop is being cultivated on about 1,000 hectares of land in the four districts, the official informed further.
Farmer Rehan Uddin Mia of Maijbagh village under Golapganj upazila said, "Growers are now working hard to prepare their land for starting Boro cultivation."
