Switzerland will give 1.2 million Swiss francs or $1.25 million in emergency assistance for Rohingyas and flood-affected people in Bangladesh.

Approximately $1.05 million of this fund will be used to meet the immediate needs of the influx of Rohingya refugees and provide life-saving support in food, shelter, water, and sanitation, reports bdnews24.

“Switzerland is closely monitoring this humanitarian crisis and envisions scaling up its humanitarian assistance to meet the emergency needs of the new arrivals,” it said in a statement.

The approximately $200,000 set aside for victims of Bangladesh floods comes in response to emergency appeals by the Red Cross and the Red Crescent and will be handled by the Swiss Red Cross.
