A man who was named in several drug cases has been killed in an alleged shootout with police in Chuadanga.

The ‘shootout’ took place at Ujalpur playground in Sadar Upazila at around 2:30 am on Thursday, said Delwar Hossain Khan, chief of Chuadanga Sadar Police Station.

The man has been identified as Pappu Hossain, 30 who hailed from Akandabaria village. He was named in six cases of drugs and arms, bdnews24.com reported.

“A gang of drug dealers opened fire on a team of patrol police at the neighbourhood of Ujalpur. The police team retaliates in self defence. The drug dealers fled and Pappu was found injured,” OC Delwar said.

Police took him to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared him dead, he said.
