The Supreme Court has suspended the judicial activities at its both the Appellate and High Court Divisions for Sunday in honour of Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan who passed away on Saturday.
The judicial activities were suspended at the direction of Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique, the SC’s Special Officer and Spokesman Saifur Rahman told The Financial Express on Sunday.
Justice Ahasan was recently elevated to the Appellate Division as a judge, but he failed to take oath on schedule on January 9 along with his three other colleagues due to his post-Covid complications.
Justice Ahasan was born in 1955. He obtained a law degree after completing his master’s and was enlisted as an advocate in 1986. In 1994, he was later enlisted to the High Court and to the Appellate Division in 2009.
He was appointed as an additional judge to the High Court in 2010 and his job was made permanent after two years, according to the rules.
He was elevated to the Appellate Division a month before his retirement, meaning that his last day at work would have been February 14.
