The SC has fixed Tuesday to pass an order on a review petition filed by BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia against its order asking the HC to dispose of her appeal in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.

A four-member bench of the Appellate Division of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain fixed the date on Monday.

Earlier on May 16, the Suprime Courtt upheld the High Court order that had granted bail to the convicted BNP chief in the graft case and also issued an order to dispose of Khaleda's appeal challenging the lower court's verdict in the case by July 31.

Later, her lawyer filed a review petition on June 25 saying that the hearing on the petition would not finish by this time.

On July 12, the Supreme Court kept the petition stand over till July 31, reports UNB.

Besides, the SC also asked the HC to start the hearing on a review petition filed by BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia against a lower court verdict sentencing five years' imprisonment in the graft case.

Later, Khaleda's lawyer filed a time extension petition on July 26 and presented it to the court on July 29.

Later, two petitions including review and time extension were kept in the cause-list.

On February 8, the Dhaka Special Court-5 convicted the former Prime Minister and sentenced her to five years' imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.

She was then sent to old central jail at Nazimuddin Road in the city.
